Ritual for the Dead

Ingredients:
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Fire proof dish
  • Black Candle
  • Candle Oil: Autumn, Samhain, or Dark Knight
  • White Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Bay Leaf or Mullein for each name on your list.
  • Incense Charcoal
  • Personal Items of Ancestors or Loved Ones you will honor.

Directions:
Create a Remembrance List by writing each person's name you wish to honor: ancestors, loved ones, and pets.

Light your white sage leaves or incense to appease the dead. Carve the initials of your loved one(s) in your black candle. Dress the candle with oil: Autumn, Samhain, or Dark Knight oil. Add favorite elements: picture, flowers, wine, favorite foods of loved one to altar.

Read each name aloud from the Remembrance List. Gather your cauldron or other fire proof vessel and burn a dried Candlewick leaf (bay leaf or mullein) for each name of honor.

Think about your memories of each of these names.
When finished burn your rosemary.

NOTE: You may then save all the ashes, hardened candle drippings, left over herbs and add them to a black cloth or bag. This is an amulet and can be worn or saved in honor.
